M3 vs 350Z - What do you think?

Yeah the engine cannot be that bad... a developed version is being used in the Nissan GTR...
and used in the val'satis.(skyline engined sleeper of the future?)
all derived from the 3l v6 lump of the 300zx so that lends its hand to the ability to turbo change it etc :)

gah beat me................

anyway i would choose the 350z, much rarer, m3s are pretty common more individual, m3s also have slowly been getting the stigma that you must be the cockney ryhming slang of an investment banker to have one :)

unless its an e30 of coarse then your too cool for school ;)

I feel this listing shows a much better view of the M3.

I never commented on the weight, just size.

They are both the same size. There are no barges in this thread, just two Coupes. One is a bit lardy but thats the one with the Nissan badge.

I'd have the M3 but with cars like this its personal preference. Both are quite different.

I have driven both and as much as I likes the 350z this isn't really a contest

As for performance being similar, it may appear that way on paper but in real life the difference feels massive

and how could you resist something that looks like this

From reading up on both, it seems that to mod them power wise costs A LOT of money and isn't terribly reliable, so thats probably out.

What makes you say that, the VQ35 used in the 350Z is one of the worlds best and most reliable engines and has been in the top 10 since it was made, you can take it to about 360bhp without having to strengthen the engine or change any of the internals, and it'll still be just as reliable.

You can supercharge or twin turbo them and then you're laughing, I'm not sure who told you that you need forged internals for FI, that's certainly not the case, only if you're looking to get silly power out of it.

Funnily enough though a cars ability and appearance does not decrease with sales volume :p

strange that, ain't it ? you could even be as outrageous as to say that it sells well because it is so good but of course that, of course, would be a stupid assumption to make :p

Both amazing cars for different reasons. I personally I think would have the 350 I think, but its a close one and it would depend on my situation.
But it comes down to much more than which goes faster in a straight line. Go and drive them and make up your own mind! I have only very breifly driven a 350z and I loved it, not long enough to make a full opinion. The M3 however is a stunning car!

that could mean in the same way as the Mclaren F1 uses a developed version of the BMW V12...when in fact it shares exactly zero parts with the original base engine.

An engine that was used in the renault vel satis 3.5 v6 :p ;)

More uninformed slagging off I see.

The VQ35 is one of the world's most reliable engines, it's not french, it's a pure nissan engine, and is the only engine to be in the Ward's top ten engines since it was made.

Renault asked for one, messed about with it, put it in TWO of their cars, and now for some reason, people **** it off and think it's french

I don't disagree, thats why I said developed in the first place :p

I think you read too deep into my comment. Its not because its french and i imagined it would be a nissan motor but my comment was directly at a sports car like the 350z sharing the engine that was in an abosolute failure of a family car the vel'satis. Its tooo ugly!

Im not a french basher(my dad drives french,my two mates do aswell)

Completely irrelevant, so because renault asked for one to use in two of their crap cars, the engine now isn't allowed to be used in sports cars like it always has been?

Its not because its french

That's because it's not.
