My mind is at a loss.

I Installed Windows 7 fresh, from the disk fine and all the motherboard drivers. The problem is it won't connect to the internet to gather the rest of the updates and drivers.

The internet works when booting from my HDD but not from my SSD? Can i fix it? Or is there another method of install i should try?

Your 100% sure that your ethernet port/what ever MB drivers properly installed?

Used all the disks, and even got toher bits from the website. The cable was checked and replaced.

I am also sure it's not an issue with the SSD itself. It's something im doing, for sure. [should really change the title to man vs SSD]

I was assured the SSD had the new firmware as it was bought second hand.

its not the ssd, so the firmware is not an issue right now, you can address that when you have the web back.

hows device manger looking? i presume you have lots of yellow ex marks? just boot up your working hd system, go to the website download all your drivers and save to a USB drive. if you need to just format and start again.

Sea's of yellow. That was before the format. I have alread tired re-installing before and the same thing happened.

Have you checked that the network connection is enabled in the Windows installation on the SSD?

You're sure you've installed the drivers for it?

I can't remeber seeing the option in the windows installation for that. Can you advise me on where i may have to look to find that?

I am pretty sure.

I didn't have these problems when installing windows first time on my HDD (last march) and the same router and cable was used.

Yeah thats the plan, ive made sure its on the right BIOS setting and such.

Just wondering, is there a way i can copy the drivers from the HDD Windows install over to the SSD install? Is there a common file where they all preside? (and hang out)

By the way, Thanks for all the help so far :)

Hi Doomspeed
I have just installed the M4 SSD and Installed Windows 7 last week , I had to install all the motherboard drivers also.
I had a slight problem with the net when trying to download games at full speed from STEAM it just keep disconnecting and was a pain. This is not your problem but I just uninstalled the "Local Area Connection" in Network connections.
Put the MoBo disc in and loaded the " Realtek ethernet PCIe GBE Family Controller" back in and it's working fine now only takes 5 mins to try.
I couldn't get connected to the net of hours when I was having problems with steam but as soon as I did the reinstall all the problems disappeared.
I think your mobo will be realtek.
Simple way to get to Network connections.
1, Right click the Network icon in tray.
2, Select Open Network and sharing centre.
3, click on "change Adapter Settings in left column.
4 Right click "Local Area Connection" and delete.
5, restart, put MoBo disc in, install Realtek ethernet adapter

Thanks mate, that looks helpful will give it a go in the morning. :)

Thanks all, Got it working in the end. Just needed to install drivers through device manager from my old HDD and that seemed to get it going fine.

Now just Need to re install things. Any tips on what to do with office? Uninstall then re-install or is there a quicker way?
