Alright, so this is going to be a weird request, I think.

Lately I've been really wanting an M4A1 replica weapon. Something that I would frame and hang up in my bedroom. I don't even know why I've been wanting one, I'm not overly interesting in weapons and such, but I think after playing too much CS:GO lately its making me want one.

Is it legal to buy a weapon like this? Obviously one that I could never fire.
Does it sound like a stupid idea to frame and hang up on the wall?
Would it be expensive? Where would one even obtain one?

>_<

It is perfectly legal to buy a deactivated weapon and display it in your home in the way which you have described, yes. I'm unsure of the specifics such as whether or not you need to have a certificate to go with it, but I would imagine so.

It doesn't sound like a stupid idea to me, no. I was pondering buying a German WWII sniper rifle to do just this with at one point. In the end I bought a guitar instead. :p

I was going to buy it from a shop in Crawley, the name escapes me at present.

One way would be to qualify for UKARA membership and buy a realistic airsoft replica.

Take a look at the vcra regulations in regards to replicas.

With reasonable cause you can legally own all sorts if you can justify it but you wouldn't be able to leave something like that on display.

Are you sure? I am confident that you can in fact have deactivated weapons on display in your home. My Grandad has two pistols on display on his wall.

Im probably completely wrong about this but didnt they change the law regarding toy/replica firearms a while back regarding the coloring of them to something like they cannot be realistically colored so that people can tell them apart from real firearms.
If thats correct how does that apply to replica collectors, I know where I live there are loads of shops selling replicas but they all seem to be bright orange or mostly orange with some black.

Was meaning working firearms, its quite surprising what you can own if you can provide the right justification - I haven't quite figured out reasonable cause that would let me purchase an M98B though :|

Hence the VCRA stuff I mentioned - with the right membership you don't need to have them two toned though.

Ah. I was assuming that the OP meant deactivated weapons.

@OP, you should be looking at deactivated weapons if you weren't previously. :)

As for the justification, you could say "It is in case of an upcoming zombie apocalypse during which the use of such weapons is legalised. In the mean time, it is for the rabbits." :p

LOL I was thinking something along the zombie apocalypse line in jest... sadly I think that would make them even less likely to permit it.

Why would you put a replica gun on a wall, even a wall you own? "Because Counter Strike" is a really awful answer.

My brother has full scale replicas of all the main weapons from LOTR on his wall because of LOTR :S
