M5 Fatalities

while it is tragic, i dont see the relevence of you mentioning its a colt owner and it being more sobering.
i would imagine it wouldnt have mattered if the van hit 99% of cars on the road, the same thing would have happened.

It's pretty simple really, but maybe I have to spell it out for you. Mitsubishi Colt is the same kind of car that I drive, a relatively rare model of motor vehicle. Seeing this happen to somebody driving one drives home the fact that this kind of thing could happen to anyone, that could have been me.
thanks for trashing the thread all the same though :/

I was thinking it was a repost of that kid who whacked himself and mates on an airstrip in a M5 a few months back... sad about the fatalities though.

how is it trashed?

just questioning why you thought that colt drivers should be safe from this sort of thing?
the fact it happened means it could happen to anyone surely?

that could have been me.

Jeez, I know whenever anything bad happens the British public have an obsession with spouting cack like 'I was only within 100 miles of that particular building a week last Thursday in 2004, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN ME' but this takes it to a whole new level...

Whilst very sad, alas, I have become more or less de-sensitised to such incidents. It goes with my job I'm afraid.

RIP to all involved. :(

Slightly O/T, at about 4AM this morning Radio 5 was reporting that the M5 stretch that's affected will be closed until around 11AM, I am all for accident investigation but the time our Police force takes to perform such tasks is often (but not perhaps in this case) somewhat excessive imo.

Agreed, whenever I pass a wrecked HGV, even if its an identical model, I have not once yet found myself thinking "That could have been me" - in my line of work, such a thought process would lead me closer to the Nut house than I already am!

I swear, the Highways **** and coppers revel in the chaos they create by closing motorways, so often its unncessary and causes stupidly long jams.

RIP to all concerned, and Clarkey, stop being so melodramatic, it ******* Diana syndrome all over again.
