mac address

Hi
im moving house in a couple of weeks and cancelling my virgin 4 meg cable i have one mate telling me i need the mac address and another saying new house new address.
So do i really need to ask them for it?

Hi

If it is a new address then you do NOT need a MAC

A mac is only used if you are making no change to your address and you are only wanting to change your broadband provider.

A MAC address and a MAC code are two different things.

MAC address (Media Access Control) is a hex address which is physically unique (generally) to every piece of networking equipment. Every router, modem network card etc will have a unique MAC address.

A MAC code is used when migrating from one ADSL ISP to another while staying at the same house.

You're on Virgin cable, so a MAC code does not even apply.
