Mac keyboard in a pc?

turn off halt on all errors in the bios.

You can toggle it to halt on all errors except keyboard.
Ah ha! That will do it. Cheers ;)

Will I still be able to get into the BIOS using 'del' on the Mac keyboard (after I've used the PS2 PC keyboard to get into the BIOS & turn of the haalt on errors thing of course)? ........ Actually why I'm I asking?! Why don't I just go & try it?!! Bit of forum addiction kicking in there me thinks :(

I don't trust USB or wireless keyboards for BIOS and so always have a PS/2 one to hand just in case.

Currently I have had no issues, but i have seen it appear regularly on these boards.

..... Getting well ****** of with this keyboard now! It feels great but the ammount of double key presses I keep getting is a joke! I have to keep going back over what I've typed to correct errors. Never happended with the old PC keyboard. I've noticed this happens a hell of a lot on the G5 systems we have in college as well.

Curse your sausage fingers!

Try tweaking these settings in the BIOS, though for some reason they might be only PS/2 - dunno - never had this issue anyway :)

"Key repeat rate. You can change the typematic rate (the speed at which characters repeat when you hold down a key). There are generally two settings: one, the initial delay between when you press a key and when it starts to repeat, measured in milliseconds; and two, the number of times per second it will repeat once it starts. BIOS setup utilities typically label these settings as Typematic Rate and Typematic Delay. Poor typists, children, and users with physical disabilities may benefit from slowing down or turning off the key repeat rate."

I'll look into that. Although it doesn't happen with my PS2 keyboarrd & as I said before I've noticed this happens a lot on the Macs we have in college.

I wish there were a PSS2 PC keyyboard that looked this good, felt this good but worked without all the soding about straight out of the box! I mean it's only a bloody keyboard! How hard can it be for a manufacturer somewhere to get it right?

(In my last post I went back & corrected all the double letters. I've left this one so you can see how often this tends to happen. It's quite random with normal typing, whicch is two fingered at best & not particularly fast either!)

Keyboards are a very personal thing. People spend hundreds on the old IBM Model M's with mechanical switches. Find something you like and stick with it.

I did a re-install of XP yesterday (Installed the OS on my new HD) & since then the numerical keypad on my Mac keyboard no longer works. What controls Num Lock on the Mac keyboard?

I don't know if you still have the problem but it's the clear button above the 7 that operates the num lock function in Windows.
