Mac Miller found dead

He might of just been unlucky to be honest, a lot of heroin addicts who have been off for a while relapse and end up od'ing because their tolerance is non existent. It seems like he had been sober recently.

No that's not shocking, a lot of people have good support systems or have developed non-harmful coping mechanisms, that's why the majority of people don't use drugs to cope. People who don't grow up with those or don't have time to develop them (ie. celebrities who are forced to grow up too fast) tend to be the ones who turn to harmful coping mechanisms like drugs and alcohol.

I'm not making any assumptions, Mac Miller was very open about his issues and drug use. He was addicted to 'lean' (codeine + promethazine) but managed to quit. The problem with people who've had addictions before is that during difficult times in their lives it's easy to relapse and fall back into bad habits. As I mentioned earlier in the thread he went through a pretty bad break up and it seems his mental health has been on the decline since.
Lol. Those poor, poor celebrities and their tragic lives filled with fast women, loose cars and hard drugs.

Such a burden society places upon them. I never realised they had such a hard life.

Is there a place I can donate so that these poor, hard-done-by celebrities can have some measure of peace and comfort?

Indeed, there was a documentary on today about Keith Moon, Keith was a talented drummer but sadly it was all obvious he was a deeply flawed character.
Drink, drugs and carousing was his only offstage pastime, he was bored unless he was playing drums or playing the fool, hedonism
and bacchanalian excess is a sure recipe for an early demise,

I can’t play the drums, and I rarely play the fool, but where do I sign up for the hedonism, and bacchanalian excess?

People need to stop the pity train for addiction and making out like it's not controllable and not the addicts fault, it's 100% their fault and 100% their choice to take the easy path to destruction

People generally don't do things they don't want to do, unless they are forced, addicts are addicts because they want to binge on their addiction and their desire to stop is less than their desire to continue, it's really that simple

I kinda lean that way with drug addicts, when a girl I was bang in love with walked out years ago, I wallowed in self-pity, and began to pour copious amounts of Stolychnya vodka down my neck, I never had a hangover, nor a headache, but it began to dawn on me that my liver must have been waving a flag of truce, I went back to a couple of shots per night.
I missed her terribly, but not enough to inflict a slow death on myself.

I completely disagree, I also don't think it matters whose fault it is or that it's their choice to do drugs.

The best outcome for everyone - the addict, the people around the addict, and society as a whole - is for them to get the treatment they need and find better coping mechanisms. The attitudes people in this thread display do nothing to make that more likely, they make it worse and all of the above suffer because of it.

I have the nagging feeling, that the last thing that loser was seeking was treatment to help him cope.
