Hey Guys

I've been on the look out for something to replace my ageing old media server (pentium M 1.6ghz!) and to potentially take up a HTPC role while being nice and low power.

Currently my media server consumes around 20watts idle and 28watts on load so would love for the new solution to compare to this.

I noticed the Mac Mini with the core 2 in seems to tick most of my boxes from the looks of it but I just wondered whether it would be able to playback Blu-Rays assuming I installed a Blu-Ray drive and installed Win 7 plus something like powerDVD or TMT etc? would the GeForce 320M be up to the job?

Has anyone else used one as a HTPC?

the 2010 model has HDMI out that I believe supports audio as well as video

I was going to get one but IIRC they don't have HDMI out - you need to wire audio separately even if you get the (?)Minidisplayport adapter. I have HDMI routed through the walls so I wasn't willing to put an audio cable up. I would need to get a newer model of the Mini.

Just to point out, in case that is likely to affect you.

The 2010 model does have native HDMI out (as shown above) and definitely does send out audio over it (as that's how I have mine hooked up).
