Mac Mini 2012

I've had my Mini 2.6 since it was released. They did have issues with the HD4000 but was sorted out after awhile. Added a 256GB Samsung 830 and 16GB ram. I have mine running with a Samsung 34er superwider, love it, also running the latest beta El Capitan with no real problems. Shame the new minis are pants.

How does the Mini do with the resolution? I've got the Dell 34" Curved but haven't hooked it up to my Air yet, looking to get a Mini at some point soon, but wondered if it'd pack enough power to power the display.

Main uses are Netflix, Youtube, Programming and Browsing.

I will give you an update when I receive everything this week.

Have the 2.3 Quad, 16GB RAM, SSD + 2TB HDD. Has been very reliable for the last couple of years as a media centre / server etc.

Well everything is up and running with all my apps installed. Extreme Pro is very fast and no errors so far.

Mac is running nice on the 34" LG at 3440x1440.

Do you have to buy the kit to put an extra hard drive in?

If you got the old Server version it was dual drive already but if not, then yes. The kits are pretty cheap, it's just a specifically shaped SATA ribbon to J-socket on the board and mounting screws, the good kits come with the removal tool for the logic too.

Check ifixit or OWC for info.

Side note, has anyone installed El Capitan on their 2012 Mini yet?

I've got it on my rMBP but not my mini. I've noticed that some of the Macs at work with the same Intel GPU have now had their max allocated VRAM increase to 1.5GB.

Probably not much in the way of performance increase but it'd mean people running 4GB memory would only have 2.5GB left over!

I have ordered one thanks.

On a side note my screen is running at 50Hz and not 60, can't see any way of changing it as no other option in the drop down box in display settings, any ideas?
