mac mini as htpc

actually the tv tuner I have integrates with front row, just press the menu key on the remote twice quickly and I get an eyetv menu which works fine for controlling it remotely...

I couldn't tell you which model it is off the top of my head, but it came with eyetv and i bought it in the apple store for not a huge amount of money...
 
Just make sure you get Perian and Flip4Mac.. that'll handle nearly all file type, and for everything else there's VLC :)

But that doesn't actually bring up the FR interface. You can use the remote to control EyeTV but it's not exactly integrated into FR.

it brings up a separate front row like menu, does me fine, can't see why not actually being front row would matter...
