Mac Mini energy efficient and powerful?

Mac mini's are great. I love them

I actually just gave my sister my Mac Mini. Was using it connected to my Panny 50", but since I got my MBP in Dec I have hardly used the Mini. So I decided for the few times I will want to view stuff on the big screen I'll just connect the MBP to it.

Do love the Mini though and could definitely see another in my future at some point depending on my needs.

Surely an SSD would be ideal for a HTPC?

I can't see it. I have a Mac Mini it's silent with a standard hard drive in there. I'm really not sure what audible difference an SSD would make.

Also, you don't need cutting edge application opening for Plex or Front Row. :p

E-Peen is about the height of it...;)

My obsessive need for all things better™ ;)

I have this too. Costs a fortune don't it

Yes, I need an SSD in my MBP. Oh, now I'm out of storage - I know I'll take the DVD out.... Shiny. Ah, now wouldn't a Apple Cinema Screen be nice? Shiny. Need it.

Oooh, maybe I should put an SSD in the Mini? After all, I do login to that at least once a month. Yes, do that. Shiny.

FFS where does it stop :rolleyes:

I'm seriously considering swapping my late 2009 Macbook with 4GB for a new mini (the one with 4GB RAM). I'm running it with my 24" Dell monitor, wired apple keyboard and magic mouse. Since setting it up like this, I haven't moved the laptop.

Good idea you think? I know the performance will be exactly the same.

I'm quite tempted to do the same, I've a new hp hi res netbook that goes out and about with me now. So my unibody aluminium macbook just sits plugged in to my monitor. It's a bit of a waste. I'm seriously considering a mac mini with a 24in led display.

I'm not a fan of iMac's with the built in display. I want more flexibility as I keep my monitors longer than my computers.

Just ordered me a mac mini at 20% discount. The 4gig/320GB HD one. Can't wait for it to arrive. Just need to sell a couple of PC laptops now!
