Mac Mini, Should I

cheers Feek :) sorted the browser now. Simple stuff when you know how hey!

/edit - sorted the hdd now too. didnt "eject" it in doze properly!

Now to get safari to store all my passwords!

Dont really want to use firefox, its a bit of a memory hog (on windows at least!)

Don't worry - you'll soon get used to OSX and love it. I came from having used DOS through to Windows 3.11 and upto Vista before moving over to Mac and I am totally in love and cannot stand Windows now. Not everyone is the same however.

For password, I can whole heartedly recommend 1password, useful if you have an iPhone too.

One thing I'll say is, think basic. A lot of the simple commands I wanted to do were a lot simpler, and that is something to get your head around. Feel free to ask away in here though as there are many many intelligent chaps on here who know a hell of a lot regard MacOS..

The "think basic" comment is a good one. As an example, when I first moved to OS X I tried to manage my music the same way I had on Windows which was to manually deal with the directory structure, organise it all myself and make sure I knew exactly what was going on. I soon realised that this was rubbish! I just threw everything into iTunes and let it deal with it. It took a bit of work to get everything tagged properly but it was worth it.

Same with photos and iPhoto.

I agree regarding 1Password, once you've got it you won't want to be without it. The same goes for Skitch.

I've used both and prefer Plex for the scraping features (as mentioned by CrispyXUK)

I wouldn't judge the appearance of Plex on the default skin. I personally use "Plexaeon" which originated from XBMC, because Mediastream is so basic.

That kinda looks like Plex on XBMC. In fact it looks identical. (Oh and scraping works just fine on XBMC)

Afraid to say I caved in and submitted a returns form to apple. I maybe should have given it a bit longer, but I know im not going to get on with it, and its just going to brass me off, so im now going to spec up a much better windows machine. It will be much more suited to my needs.

Thanks for all your help guys :)

You really need to give it longer than a day!

This is why I'm a firm believer in going to an Apple store and trying machines before you buy. If you don't have one nearby, there is usually a reseller pretty close who won't mind you fudging around on the machines if you're semi-interested in buying.

Can I ask what exactly you're having problems with?

Bit bored now, run out of things to do! I guess im out my comfort zone a bit with this, whether i'll stick with it or not, remains to be seen. I just dont know what the hell im doing really!

I'm very surprised. Half a day isn't really much time to try something but you seem to not want to like it.

I won't try and persuade you otherwise, I'm just surprised you didn't give it any longer.
