Hi. I have Mac OS X Panther installed on my iBook. I want to password protect a file (in this case, a Pages document). Is this possible? If so, does anyone know how?

I've noticed File Vault, but not really sure if this is the thing I'm looking for?

Any help would be much apppreciated. Thank you :)

I don't think it's possible without a third party app (I don't know of any offhand). Although you could make a password protected .dmg image as I've done this before for several files on my system.

The file vault encrypts your entire home folder so not really what you're looking for.

Indeed, go for password protected .dmg

Good for putting financial and personal info into, the encryption is plenty strong unless the authorities get their hands on it.
