Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I did do a search but couldn't see anything.

Are any of the Mac Pro 08 owners on here having any problems with automatic sleeping of their MP's?

I have read that it is caused by the last Security patch (which is about the time mine stop sleeping) and a lot of people have been affected by it (massive thread on Mac Rumours).

I have tried a few things (make sure no apps are running, Spotlight not indexing, no external drives connected, nothing accessing the net, turned off time machine, reset SMC or whatever it is called now etc) but nothing has worked.

I can manually put it to sleep either via menu or power button but it will not do it by itself. It's not the end of the world, I have had no other problems so far but as this is the only problem I would like a fix for it.

Ah right, no, that is not what I meant.

Before the updates certain Mac Pros would wake from sleep, then immediately shut down and reboot by itself. Hence why I asked.

Have you tried setting a hot corner to activate sleep, does it work? I'm guessing it's a Power Saving preference that is at fault.
