Hey Guys!

Does any one know now if the final release of Windows Vista works on the Mac Pro?

I tried a beta and it wouldn't work - is the new bootcamp vista ready with the right drivers?

Thanks in advance.

Rich

I don't think so, Apple will probably wait for either Macworld '07 (9th Jan), the Leopard release (Spring '07) or until it's been properly released to the public before providing full support for Vista ... much to there dismay ;)

So what happens with the Mac Pro then? I have installed Vista on a Mac mini previously with no trouble.

Just get a proper PC! Doesn't it go against some kind of Mac Zealot code of conduct to run Windows?

Not at all :), I run windows regulary for using database and asp stuff, Windows isn't that bad, it just doesn't come close to how good OS X is ;) :D

And besides, buying a Mac and running Windows would be far better than buying a Dell etc.

I bet it'll work with Boot Camp, perhaps except for the video drivers. It does not have official support but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't work.

For the video drivers, the ATi Catalyst or nVidia forceware should work? The only bit that may cause hiccups is the Intel chipset drivers for Vista.

Everything works aside from the intel driver for the mobo - it has serious issues with the PCI express slots - meaning the GFX doesn't work correctly. thats the main issue I have.

Don't get drawn into it - I have this argument nearly every day at uni with him!

Bumping this thread back upto the top to see if anyone has any news on this.

I have a legit copy of windows vista through MSDN - but I don't think there are the correct Intel Drivers yet and the Intel website is impossible to search!

Any help would be great!

Vista works on the Macpro under the latest parallels perfectly.

Sorry yet spotted you asked about bootcamp... no clue.. sorry.

Give me 5 reasons why Mac OSX is better than Windows (including upcoming vista)?

There is only one reason that matters...

Personal preferance... there is no BEST OS, just the one that fills the needs of a particular user best... for me that is OSX... for now.
