Hi All,

I am thinking of selling my 2011 MacBook Pro and upgrading to a MacBook Air.

I have heard people saying that Macs tend to hold their value well, is this the case?

Also I was interested in what the best place to sell Macs is? Is Ebay the best bet or are there specialist Mac resell sites?

Thanks

Avforums would be the first place id put it. Failing that, try the bay.

Don't however list on both at the same time as it is totally frowned upon and against AVF trading rules

;)

I have sold a lot of apple gear via gumtree for local sellers. Been very successful, no fees, and safeer in my opinion as you meet and exchange cash. I would not accept paypal offers via this source though.

Ebay completed items is handy to get a rough idea of what your laptop is worth.

Apple stuff does tend to hold it's value well I've found.

I just eBay'd mine (15" Early 2011, 2.0GHz i7, 8GB, 500GB, mint condition, etc) and didn't get what I'd hoped for (once PayPal and eBay fees are taken off).

Might be worth your while sticking it on forums and leaving the bay as a last resort.

What I do is get an average selling price on eBay completed listings, minus the 15% in fees etc. that eBay/paypal take and advertise it on here or AVForums (do a week on each but not at the same time as AVF really doesn't like this!

If it doesn't sell on forums then just stick it on eBay as a "Buy It Now" for the original average selling price you worked out.

I get more success with "Buy it Now" than Auction and has it's instant payment there's no messing around ;)
