Mac to Mac migration

Anyone done this on Leopard?, in particular, using a FW lead?

Exactly what is carried over? How does it all unfold?

I used a time machine backup from my macbook pro onto my new imac. It transfered everything across, software, mp3's etc. I was suprised iwork transferred across, I didnt have to find the install DVD's It also transferred the accounts over too. The only problem I had was that the admin login password on the new imac didn't seem to work, which was easy to reset by rebooting from the OSX DVD. I'm pretty sure the FW lead method will do the same thing and transfer everything across.

I'd seen the FW document above before, but was more interested in what is transferred using the Utilities migration application.

I think you get to select the data that is migrated.

Ok, had a go myself now - FW migration from from mac to mac.

Gives you a choice of 5 to carry over settings, apps ect.

And top marks to Apple for creating such a flawless and simple procedure. Took less than 45mins to transfer EVERYTHING over. Target mac is literally a clone of the old one.

You may want to repair disc permissions in Disc Utility after it's completed.

Just to clear up any permission issues that may have been ported over
