Mac users' elitism

? The cheapest Mac laptop is £749, which is around $1500 US. For that you get a 13" screen, 512MB of RAM and not even a DVD writer.

sorry, I was logged into the UK site so with my discount it came in at just under £500. My mistake :)

I'd just order it from the States anyway :D

Macs don't protect you from viruses, it's just that no one has bothered to write a virus for macs.

I can't be bothered to type the same old crap out.

But the simple fact is that it's a whole lot more than "hackers can't be bothered"

No they can't. Can they protect against viruses without expensive software? Didn't think so ;)

Avast, AVG... Oh and here is a classic for you, there are practically no viruses for Macs because theres no point in targetting so few people ;)

Damn, beaten but my point still stands. If OSX had the popularity of Windows it would have the same problems.

Would this be encryption etc. which people always find a way around...

ok, semantics again. You can't get a virus on a Mac and you don't need expensive software to stop it. Same principle, different wording. And $loth - depends where you buy them and what you buy.

Can't you people just agree to disagree?

He said PC's can do everything a Mac can. Clearly they can't :) The reasons behind it are largely irrelevant.

Can macs play games? Someone on another message board who owns a mac said they would but not as good as a pc could, is that true?

Edited because I'm not having a good day :p

You don't normally let it stop you *giggles*

That is a large part of it though, wouldn't you say? Why target 10% of users when you can target 90%?

The ignorance of some people in this thread is just astounding. (Omg an up him self mac user!!!on2e2on2e FFS A WINDOWS USER WOULDN'T SAY THAT)

They're basically slagging something off for the sake of it, without any real knowledge, or experience.

that's ok, we know we're right ;)

Threads would be rather short and boring if we all just said "I disagree with you but I respect your opinion", a slagging match is far more fun :D

Very true. Please continue :D

I don't mind slagging matches, just as long as people have real experience (read: have owned one for a reasonable amount of time) or knowledge of the subject in question.

That is a large part of it though, wouldn't you say? Why target 10% of users when you can target 90%?

People create viruses for more than just monetary gain and the kudos you would get in the virus community for bringing OSX to its knees would be motivation enough.

Also, it's known that 99% of Mac users don't have anti-virus, therefore the success rate would be nearly 100%. Not so on Windows computers.

And you know that the OP and other members have no real experiance how?

You can spot it a mile off by their attitudes.

I can't argue with that :)

Oh goody, another veiled personal attack, bit of a **** aren't you.

I wonder if I'll get away with my personal attack like you do with all of yours, if only I was as great as you.

There are quite a few games for Mac and now, because Macs have Intel chips, you can install Windows on them as well as OSX. Therefore you can do absoluely everything on a Mac that you can do in Windows. You just have to boot into Windows. That includes games.

Having said that, the choice of graphics cards is lower so if you want to play at max settings you should probably choose Windows.
