Mac vs PC - Do the specs really match?

trust me it's not, this week so far I have bought an ibook to try out "mac" and installed ubuntu on my main computer to try it.

Although the upshot of this all will be next week when I sell the ibook, uninstall ubuntu and realise Vista does everything I need it to do perfectly well

I have to use Windows as part of my job. I really don't like using it, but if you find using Windows then that's cool. However, as a user experience OS X is better than Windows.

So what did I do? I decided to buy an 8 core Mac Pro instead (it will cost me £1600 with educational discount after upgrading the graphics to the nVidia 8800GT and adding WiFi and the second superdrive). which is amazing considering it's only £200 more than the iMac would have cost!

this really is an age old debate when it comes to the money side of mac vs. pc...

case in point... a suped up mitsubishi lancer evo will do a similar 0-60 as an aston martin db9 - both get you from a-b, but one just does it better - and only once you've given mac a chance will you realise macs are just the same... theres not a lot of things it can do that a pc cant, but pretty much all of them, it just simply does better - and you pay a premium for that ;)

i used to be on the pc side of the fence for many years, and wasn't really even willing to give em a chance... then i was staying with my brother in law for a few weeks back in the summer and needed to use his imac for some bits and bobs and i saw the light, and it wasn't a slow process either, the light pretty much smacked me in the face :D

(and dont go quarreling with my evo vs. db9 parody, i love my jap cars thats just an example ;))
