Macafee Security

Please help me remove this app from my phone!

I can't u install it via manage apps as it's greyed out.

I try and remove it as a device administrator, it's ticked so when I go to un tick and deactivate, it says activate instead, even though it already is?!

Did this come pre installed on your phone? And which phone?

Assuming android, you did this?

No I downloaded it, don't ask why.

When I go to device administrators I can't un tick it, it comes up as to activate or deactivate but nothing happens.

Yes android and not rooted.

Well macafee support weren't helpful...

"Since it is a new version we would need to do a research regarding this. So we suggest you to contact your system manufacturer."

Do you have root? If so delete the apk from /data/app

Without trying to suggest the obvious, root?

And of course acknowledge that McAfee are now as bad as Norton for infecting phones as well as PCs. Trying not to be clever, you'd think we'd be in a place now where we couldn't be inconvenienced/infuriated by supposedly genuine products from companies. It's like they're trying to gain a reputation.
