Im planning on running OSX and XP (girlfriend needs it :o ) via bootcamp on a macbook and i feel id already be sharing the 60GB hard drive enough.

Alas at some point i would want to get some Linux action in but the thought of running three os systems on one machine is scaring me.

So my question is rather than buy a larger internal drive could i buy an external hard drive of a decent size and boot say Ubuntu up from that and operate it as a completely seperate entity ?

I installed Ubuntu on my macbook today.

I went down the route of Parallels, so don't have reboot etc.

It installed fine and everything works.
As mentioned above, you could always use the LiveCD option, thus avoiding the need for the linux os to be "installed" etc.

Live CD's are kind of pointless though as i want somewhere to save my files and running of a CD is painfully slow.

Ill have a play with Parallels but i may just wait till i can get another laptop purely for linux hackery.
