Hey guys,

I've got the opportunity to pick up a Mid-2007 Macbook 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo (MB061B/A) for a decent price (£250-£280) it's got a dead battery and hard drive which will cost ~£90 to replace, so say £340-£370 in total. I've got a few questions if you don't mind answering them :)

1) Will this machine take 4GB Memory?
2) Will Snow Leopard run on it?
3) Will a 320GB 7200rpm HDD work OK or will the heat be too much?

That's it I think. If it's not worth £340-£370 will you also tell me please, I have no idea how much it should cost - I just remember they are pretty expensive :p

Cheers.

1) I'm pretty sure it will take 4GB but only use 3GB.
2) Yes, definitely.
3) I doubt you'd notice the extra heat, they get toasty anyway.

Make sure you get a proper Apple battery.

That seems like a fairly reasonable price. They are still good machines.

I'm not 100% sure about the RAM but i know it will run snow leopard. a 320GB 7200rpm drive will be fine aswell, no problems with heat.

Edit: The white plastic MacBook is still £750 new? I guess the OP's is a reasonable bargain.

Bit of an update :)

We struck a deal and I'm now the owner of a 2.0GHz Macbook.

£200 for the Macbook, £81.40 for a genuine Apple battery, £51.09 for a 500GB WD Scorpio Blue HDD - Total: £332.49.

I did order some extra bits (4GB Ram & Snow Leopard) but I'm not putting them in the total as they were not required to get a fully functioning Mac :p

Time to learn how to use OSX.
