Have just bought a mini dvi to vga adaptor to connect my macbook to my HDTV, the res of the tv is 1366 x 768 but the closest res to this that the macbook can output is 1280 x 768.
Has anyone managed to output 1366 x 768 with their macbook?

I haven't tried it, but DisplayConfigX might be able to achieve what you want. It's a little application which allows you to tinker with all manner of settings relating to your video output, and allows you to set up custom resolutions, refresh rates etc.

Thanks for the replies, the restart did the trick, it even detected that it was a sony tv! amazing lol.

ive read the manual and there dont seem to be a way that i can use the tv without having the laptop screen off.

is there a way that i can turn off the macbook screen and only keep on the hdtv screen?
