Does anyone here have a 13" Macbook and a Road Tools Traveler CoolPad? Are they any good? I'm thinking about getting a laptop stand so I can use my laptop in bed without having to worry about over heating. This one looks pretty good but I think it was designed for older Apple laptops, not sure how well it would work with a new aluminium Macbook.

I've got the Road Tools Podium Pad, good piece of kit. The Cool Pad doesn't seem to get very good reviews most of the time so would personally pass on it. The one that Av8 posted looks really nice though.

if you look at the logitech one the angle it showing if used on 13" macbook means the lid is openend to the angle where most of the rear exit for the heat is semi covered.

i know its prob a little bit clearer than that but ive used a couple of times rippng converting a dvd handbrake etc for ipod and found at that angle it used more fan etc..

if you get my drift

So are you basically saying the macbook screen should be at a 90 degree angle? Thus giving the optimal vent for heat dissipation as you've mentioned.

yes if i leave it standing as suggested at 90 it appears cooler,,

if i have it angled over in that mode of the screen in picture i find fans on a lot more hence covering the vent,

on laptops itmay work better but on mac book i feel its not as suited.

maybe buts its really angle of dangle, look at it like that put it on your desk/lap youll see

but it may not be a problem just my views of it but we have a couple and got a targus base and dont use it after looking at it like i suggest.

I think I'll need to see a stand in person with a 13" laptop on it. The Macbook looks so good it'd be a shame to spoil it with a cheapo stand.

I have tried my macbook set @ 90 degree angle, haven't noticed the fans either way even at a higher degree tilt not that i've been listening for them. Still think this Logitech is good for the money & looks great with the Aluminum macbook against the white. :D

I've ordered the Logitech one, it's worth a punt, can't really justify the cost of the iLap.

It's arrived, it's certainly very comfortable to use on my lap (much better than the tray I was using before). The keyboard is at a very comfortable angle to use and I like it. There's not enough space for an external mouse, but I've not even considered using an external mouse with my MBP so that's not really an issue.

It gets thumbs up from me.

Glad you like it :D I've had mine for about a month or so, no complaints at all. Second one for the wife is on it's way.

Glad to hear it. I got impatient and ordered one the other day. Can't wait for it to get here.

Mine arrived today. It's very comfortable, nice and light, and the macbook grips to it quite well. I think I can tilt it to about 25/30 degrees before it starts to slowly slide off. For £25 you can't knock it.

edit: I've noticed that even when it's fairly level the macbook can very, very slowly begin to slide off the stand. It's not a big issue though, still a nice piece of kit.

Huge bump but today I've noticed the same, my laptop is sliding all over the place now, it never used to do that. It's really frustrating me.
