Hey there

I have a core duo iMac and MacBook. On my iMac I have a large folder of icons. The problem is that when I copy them to my MacBook over the network they are un-viewable on the MacBook, infact they are Zero KB in size.

I am clueless to what is going on here. I have set the permissions as everyone->read and write and applied this to all enclosed items in the folder.

Any ideas?

Know this wont help you but could you help me by telling us how i set permission to my files and folders.. I am new mac user and been trying to figure things out. Sorry about this

Hijacker :p well, it's a free bump so I don't mind :o

Right click on target file or folder and select "Get Info"

The ownership and permission settings are at the bottom of the info dialog. Click the arrows to extend the panel, specifically the details section as this allows to control who has access and what they are allowed to do.

I try and help. But first of how are you transferring them to macbook? As I remember when I had a PC Laptop and PC. I had the folders all set right but when they were burnt onto the cd they altered

Well I have mounted my iMacs drive on my MacBook using Samba, and then copied a folder from my iMac to the MacBook. Everything else copies just fine, but the Icons are screwing up completely.

I might try and mount the MacBook from the iMac and copy them over that way, but at the moment I have 3GB of stuff transferring, it's slow enough as it is so I'll wait until it's done.
