macbook or a winbook

Anyone bought a Macbook and iPod, just wondering how long they take on rebating the £100?

Why they can't just make life easy and sell you an iPod then have -£100 at the checkout I don't know :(

From a mate's experience, was 4 weeks.
Others online reported it to be between 4 to 8 weeks - reason why they didn't just rebate at check out is people will resell the iPod on the Bay - the terms state that one have to cut out the iPod label from the box - this will significantly reduce the resell value of iPods on the Bay, ish.

Edit: so far, they've yet done an "official" check if I'm really a student yet.

What makes you count as a student? I'm starting Uni at the end of the next month but all I have is letters from the uni etc. at the moment, would that be enough?

It's something to do with tax or profits. I.E They'll claim they have a higher revenue (before the rebate). or the rebate is tax free..

faster proc, faster FSB, bluetooth, firewire, camera, mag safe, great apple design, plus the OSX software not to mention the fact that using parallels or boot camp you can run XP as well as Mac OSX, it's no contest.
?

Anyway, as long as you've recieve the UCAS confirmation letter - you're a student.
They didn't ask for any documentation - anyway, I'm starting year 2 pharamacology - that's what I told them and they said, would you like me to set up your account and order your items?

I should think so - I got my discount by showing them a letter from the Open University confirming I was enrolled on a course. If your letter confirms that you are enrolled on a degree course for start in September, it should be enough. But you may have to wait until your course actually starts - I'm not sure, e.g. if someone shows Apple a course letter before the course starts and then they don't go, they've got the educational discount on false premises.

That's because u compared a £500 Laptop with a £750 MacBook. Thats a fair challenge. Next lets compare my push bike to my car see which is faster.

Well, thus far, I've yet found a laptop that is "as good as" a macbook in specs, functions, value for money and quality feel. I did look at the Asus range but they're more expansive - tho they've all been equiped with Dual Layer +/- DVDRW.

I'm not here for an arguement but your initial post was very rude - you jumped straight into saying the OP's buying stuff because of Branding, all I did was point out he sees where the extra £250 he's paying goes to. (if he goes educational, it's a cracking price of £700, more money for RAM upgrades.)
