MacBook Pro - About to make the switch to apple...

the differences i know are...

shift 3 = £ on UK keyboard and # on US keyboard
# is alt 3 on a UK keyboard

the UK keyboard also has the very useful ± and § keys!

I'll be damned. Never occured to me that the hash was missing - it's not actually labeled as being an alt-3 either!

It's the secret test.. proves how n00b you are.. and you failed ;)

In the future if you find yourself missing a key, just go in to the keyboard settings in System Preferences and select keyboard shorcuts.. there's an entire list :)

Also a quick look at my UK bluetooth keyboard - it has a smaller shift and the | symbol is missing on the US keyboard..

Oh yes sensible idea that, buying a very expensive laptop only to invalidate the warranty within the first day to upgrade a part that could be done by the supplier.

Also have you tried to open up a MBP recently, they are damn near impossible to get into without leaving some kind of damage.

It would be kind of illegal for Apple to void the warranty for a hdd upgrade.

Thread update: I bought the 2.4GHz 15" MacBook Pro with the standard HDD, and a matte screen in New York (I compared both screens instore, and after thinking over it and talking with the Apple dude I decieded on the matte screen).

Impressions so far: Me <3 it, but cant wait to put Vista on it :p - call me an Apple n00b but I keep trying to right click on stuff
Other main point is that the area below the keyboard / around the mouse pad gets very grubby (Or I'm just a grubby teenager in 100°F of California heat!)

Congrats! The same config as mine.

If you go into System Preferences->Mouse&Keyboard->Trackpad you should see a set of tick boxes. Make sure you select the two finger scrolling and the right click by two fingers+click on the trackpad.

That should help with right-click-itis.

Unfortunately Apple don't make a Teflon edition.. so it's back to having a cleaning regime.
