Hello peoples

I am currently experiencing a problem with my MacBook Pro's ability to boot into Mac OS X 10.6

I recently attempted to install the latest update from apple and it said update failed and after restarting the mac would not turn on, it would get stuck at the screen with an apple logo and a spinning circle load timer. I can however boot into Windows on my bootcamp partition just fine.

So far I have attempted booting into safe mode, which fails and the OS still doesen't load. I have tried booting into the single user command line mode and that does work however the OS does not start. I have also tried the resetting PRAM technique and that did not work either. I have found my OS x install disc and placed it in the drive however the MacBook wont detect the disc. I have tried holding 'C' and using the Option key to load the disc but the MacBook just wont detect it. I even went into Windows and told the MacBook to boot into the disc but it still wouldn't load it.

If anyone has any steps I can take to help fix the MacBook before taking it in to be fixed it would be very apprechiated. I do have another harddrive disk that I can install to test the system if needed.

I do not know if the specs are needed but here they are just in case.

you could try putting in the other hardrive which is blank and try a fresh install on that. if that works you should be able to clear you other one and try a fresh install on that.
