Macbook refresh rumours....?

Ugh, step forward in some ways but they took a step back on the graphics.

320M > HD3000 big time. :o

Also looking at Anandtech benchmarks the new MBP is doing way worse than my MacBook does on StarCraft II (both in Windows) FPS wise, I can run it on med/high with really smooth framerates, they're only getting 40 or so on low detail settings. :S Something's not right there.

Yeah I did the sensible thing got the ram from Crucial, swopped it out myself.

Have to say though this machine is the first Macbook Pro I've tried that will drive a 30" Display without getting laggy sometimes, it's super quick!!

Awesome. Makes me cringe when people choose it on the Apple site! Although to be fair some people feel "safer" doing it that way but they pay for it.

Had an offer for my mac pro on eBay, just have to decide what MBP I need! Think I'll grab a new MBP and then a 27" ACD or 27" iMac once they've been refreshed, hopefully within the next few months!

Are there any major differences between the 15" MBP? Was going for hi-res, 8GB and will put an SSD in myself. Is there much difference in the CPUs/GPUs?

Mine arrived yesterday, loving it so far.

Don't game really so the whole gfx debate on the 13inch models is a non issue for me.

Really liking it though so far.

BIG GPU difference.

Yes, there's a very big performance difference. If you want to game don't get the base 15".

That's a bit harsh! the 6490m is supposed to be slightly better than the 9600gt in my 09 mbp... That games more than fine :) (not top notch or amazing through an external screen but still more than good enough)

I used to play a lot of games but I highly doubt I would, and if I was it would be things like TF2 which runs fine on my mac pro which has an 8800GT in it and at a higher res

Got a random question. If I buy a new MBP in Australia with Applecare, will the warranty and Applecare be valid in the UK?
Its actually a couple of hundred pounds cheaper to buy here than back home in the UK.

I have no idea. I might call Apple Aus tomorrow and ask them.

I'd say you would get a keyboard with $ and a small enter key. Took me a while to get used to them when I moved over but you do after a while. Then again not being able to type a £ sign would be annoying as it's missing from the keyboards here!

Maybe they stock UK keyboards but I wouldn't see why.
