MacBook upgrade - Which SSD?

Relatively recently I switched from PC to Mac and can already notice the difference in speed for my everyday tasks. I have upgraded it to 4GB as I usually have VM software open with 1GB allocated for Windows to run on.

Spotlight is *sometimes* laggy and it would be nicer if some things would load quicker so I was thinking of investing in a 128GB SSD. I don't want the very top end one as I think that would be a waste of money seen as they would probably be half the price in 6 months.

Would I notice much of a difference if I got a SSD in terms of ironing out the Spotlight lag and boot/application load times on a Mac? Also, which drive should I go for? (Wasn't looking at spending over £150 - £175.

Here is an XBench benchmark:

Corsair S128 £171
or for £70 more the OCZ Agility £255 the data rate of the SSD is bit faster on the agility thats all (your mac mite only work at Sata 1 any way)

but Do check before buying that your Mac laptop does not have problems with SSDs as macs have been hit and miss with SSDs

I have been told to above the Jmicron (something like that) controller. Does the drive you suggested (the cheaper one) have one of these?

With regards to having a Mac, I have the Early 2009 (MB881B/A) version of the MacBook...how would I find out whether my Mac is SATA-II and compatible with SDD?

Thanks for the reply.

i never post JMicron drives or recommend to buy them (you can buy the Corsair S128 is cheaper then any of the JMicron based SSDs)

samsung and corsair and > OCZ Agility, falcon, vertex, (in order of price) have cache on them and do not suffer from the stuttering issues
