MacBook won't switch on

MacBook was working fine this morning, switched it off and put it in my bag to travel to work, got it out and it wouldn't switch on.

When the power supply is connected the green light is on as if it's charged, and pressing the button on the battery makes all the LEDs light up.

I've tried resetting the SMU but that didn't make a difference.

I think my Applecare expired last year, any ideas?

Thanks

Phaser,

Do you hear the SuperDrive post?

Until I know more my supsicions are it's either a faulty screen or internal hardware such as the motherboard gone pop?

Need some more info as to whether the screen comes on then it hangs etc bla bla!

I've had that last year. Turned out the motherboard had died. Was sent to their Bristol repair centre and they quoted a ridiculous price to repair it (this was right after the 1 year guarantee period). In the end bought another Macbook Pro but it was a mistake to downgrade to a 13". Went back to a a good ol' desktop with Windows 7, which isn't too bad actually.

If it is the logic board that needs replacing I just had mine done on Applecare but with out it the price was about £289 + VAT off the top of my head (not sure if that included labour or not). Prob, best getting a new one. I'm sure an apple store will diagnose it for you? Although I'm not sure if they charge for this (some small print I read when I went in was that if you didn't get it repaired with them they would charge a diagnostic fee).

Could you not purchase Apple Care, wait a few weeks/month then take it in with Apple Care, I guess maybe this has been discussed somewhere before but you've paid for the 3 years warrenty why would they not repair, it happens to have broke just 1 month after what badluck ;)! Then you have a 2 Year warrenty, Or can Apple Care only be purchased with new hardware?

Does sound like a Motherboard/Logic Board whatever the correct Apple term is!

If its the last pre unibody one take it down anyway and hope its in the recall list for ones with dead parts to see if they will do it for free :)
