Machine Check Exception

Hi,

So got a problem with the family computer. Been away at uni so not exactly sure what has happened, they say that blue screen just pops up on start. No new hardware/software installed and no power surges. At the moment doing a normal boot gets as far as the windows logo before blue screen flash and restart. Booting into repair mode gets a blue screen with machine check exception. Booting into bios and everything looks normal, removed overclock and still blue screen. System was due for a reformat so fortunately most of the files are backed up if its a HDD/corrupt problem. This area isn't my expertise so would appreciate any help/knowledge. Been scouring for a while but not sure where to start.

i7-2600k @ 4.6Ghz
Asus P8P67 Pro
8GB corsair ram
GTX 580
WD blue 1TB
CM 800W silent pro gold psu

Thanks

do a clear cmos and return everything to defaults.

try with 1 stick of ram in or try and see if you can run memtest on it.

does the PC boot if you try safe mode or is it the same issue?

try and re seat the ram and psu cables etc as well
