Told the machine to hibernate last night after it had finished defragging, now it's not powering up. Spec is

DFI NF4 Ultra-D
Opteron 146
1gb geil PC4000 RAM

I've got one orange LED on the board and the LED on the TV card's lit up, so power seems fine. Pressing either the power button on the case or the EZTouch button on the board does nothing. No diagnostic LED or anything.

Off out to work now but wondered if anyone had any ideas for when I get home

Cheers

try resetting bios and take out the power cord for a few minutes and see what happens

Tried both, no-go. Could it be a short? Sometimes when I turn the PSU on, the power LED on the case comes on and stays on.

Check the power button connector perhaps? it happened to me recently...

edit: also it appears i cant read, sorry

Got it all out of the case, just the board, CPU and RAM connected. Still nothing.

Could it be the PSU even if the things are lighting up?

It's a hiper I think

With that DFI board i think there should be 2 yellow lights on the motherboard when its not on, one light at the top for the Ram and one at the bottom. If your not able to turn it on with the EZ touch buttons i guess its your mobo that's gone best way to find out is try a different psu.

had similar recently i have to leave the power cord out of the pc for 15 minutes before the pc will power up

any length of time with the cord connected doesnt work

Deffo only one light showing on mine. I've stolen a PSU from work but it;s only a 250w. I'm sure it's good enough just to make fans etc spin up though. I'll try it later.

I;ve left it with the PSU switched off overnight and it's no better. Surely that's the same as having it unplugged?

Well the PSU i've brought home is no use, different atx power connector :(

There's deffinately only one LED lighting up though, not sure if the one near the DIMM slots is meant to light up when turned off or not. Anyone know? I'm going to go buy one of the E6600 bundles from OCUK tomorrow if it's the board. Can't see the point in getting another SKT 939 one tbh. Anyone think it's the PSU?

only starts if i pull the lead from the pc and leave for a good 15 mins

dont ask me why

Had the exact same problem a week back, turned out one of the rails on the PSU had gone. New PSU and everything is sorted :).

Bah, was quite hoping it was the board :(

Don't fancy buying another £80 PSU to find out it's not that, might just get a cheapy.

You had the EXACT same problem?

Yep, EXACTLY the same problem. Turned pc off one night, didn't want to do anything the next morning. Same mobo as yourself.

Took the whole PC apart and tried booting just the mobo on its own, even took the mobo out of the case and off the mobo tray just incase it was shorting out but to no luck.

Aye, does sound very familiar. That's boring, was fancying a new build. I'll call and get a PSU tomorrow.

Tried the new PSU with the old kit and everything spun up, so deffo the PSU. New kit all installed and working fine too :)
