As some of you are aware i only got into the world of DSLR in the last week.

Bought a Canon 300d Rebel and a couple of lenses [nifty fifty and a Sigma 55-200 F4-5.6 DC]

Been having a play-about with Macro but would like a few tips/pointers please.

This is one of my current attempts, the colours seem a little off and the focus seems to be not as good as others i have seen. I used the Sigma for this one and shot it as a jpeg with nothing done in photoshop.

Many would call that a close up shot rather than a macro.

Ideally you need a dedicated macro lens.
However, you can buy a set of extension tubes and use them with the nifty fifty (this lens is ideal).
Don't bother with Canon extension rings as they are overpriced.
Google 'kenco' then have a look on the auction site.

Thankyou for the comments. The nifty is a great lens and have got some great shots with it so far, what price should i be looking at paying for the extensions?

i agree that phot isnt really macro....

you can pick up a generic set of tubes on an auction site for less than £60.

and that with the 50 will give you the tools to get some good proper macro shots. .
