MacUser or MacFormat? Which is better...

Hoya Guys,

While bored during my lunch break today I went into the nearby local newsagents. Had a big selection of mags etc, but I only spotted one Mac magazine - MacUser

Which do your prefer MacUser or MacFormat?

I am assuming they are the top two?

Its just that I fancy subscribing to one.

I normally just read mac blogs (TUAW,MacApper,Macenstein,OSXDaily,TAB) - but I see where you're coming from - I love to have a magazine to read.
 
That brings back memories. In a way the internet costs pay for themselves in money I've saved not buying magazines since I got broadband installed.

It is nice to flop out on the sofa with a magazine and a brew though.
 
MacUser for news, MacWorld for handy tips and "How To" articles.

One thing with MacWorld is their tendency to review printers/all in ones can ware you down if you're a frequent reader, whereas MacUser like to do the Macs a bit more and generally come across with better writing styles + it's a much more uptodate magazine.

Doesn't that magazine come out every quarter? I don't really see that one in the shops I frequent.

I know all the info is online, but you can't beat a good ol'magazine....

I will check out MacUser & Format first, then I might subscribe. :)
 
Ahhh I didn't see that the OP said MacUser and MacFormat :rolleyes:

Silly me.. I still prefer MacUser, MacFormat has too many adverts and it costs more!
 
You can subscribe to MacUser for like £1 for 3 issues, if u dont like cancel :) Same what I did, then cancelled. Then they called me up and gave me the same offer again, spot on.

I've been thinking, AGAIN :/ , which is the best to buy.

Wonder if people's opinions have changed, do they still bother (since we have MacRumors etc, etc) to buy Mac related magazines.

Please can we have a poll to get a fresh outlook on what people buy pleassssse Justin/Feek.

I subscribe to mac format, have done for about a year now. Granted most information is available online, I still love to read a physical magazine.

I have looked at mac user briefly, seemed decent also. I never see it in the shops round here though, only mac format.
 
Suprised anyone buys the magazine anymore, when they're available in PDF for the iPad.
 
Not for free though is it? I have access to a massive archive of back issues in PDF format as a subscriber also.

Doesn't cost much for a sub. Just took advantage of the mac user promotion also.
 
I get my magazines through nefarious torrent sites. Got bored of paying £5 for the hard copy ages ago. Plus Zinio didn't offer the mags I wanted.

Now that iBooks supports PDF it's even better :)
 
I normally keep up to date with it all online. Although when given the option of buying the magazines I will. I prefer to get MacFormat as I think this reads better although it only comes out once a month. I could never get into reading MacUser.

Yeah I know what you mean. But I find it nice having something physical sometimes, say on a car journey or where ever. :o ;)
