Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. announced today the R.A.T. PROX, the next-generation of the Company's popular series of R.A.T. gaming mice. Conceived to be the most advanced gaming mouse in the world, the R.A.T. PROX includes a magnesium alloy chassis to reduce weight and enhance strength and a completely reinvented Scroll Wheel system delivering new ways to play.

With numerous patents pending, the R.A.T. PROX is compatible with PC and expected to ship spring 2015. Designed to offer a future proof upgradable solution, the R.A.T. PROX is capable of growing with the gamer, incorporating Modular Sensor Units (MSU), allowing gamers to swap out the sensor of their R.A.T. PROX to suit individual styles of play or when new sensors become available.

Literally reinventing the wheel, the R.A.T. PROX features a newly designed Scroll Wheel system, allowing gamers to adjust the click force of the wheel, swap out the wheel itself and even utilize a new analogue strafe feature, affording gamers configurable analog control for the horizontal movement on the scroll wheel.

I've got a RAT 9 and absolutely love it. These look awesome. It's great to see some actual innovation with peripherals. The modular sensors and scroll wheel stuff are things I've personally never seen before and sound really promising.

I've always felt that scroll wheels could be better utillised. On my mouse, I only really use it for scrolling, and never in games. It's just something I've never learned to do. With the button having such a prime placement on the mouse, it only makes sense for it to be a bit more versatile when it comes to functionality.

As for the sensors, I suppose it depends on the prices and quality of the units they offer. At the very least, being able to pick up a new sensor rather than a whole new mouse if somehting goes awry is a pretty decent advantage, if you ask me.

It does look silly. But almost so silly it's cool, you know? The Lamborghini of mice, perhaps?

My old and second RAT9 is now playing up... I also love the look of this mouse and I can't imagine having a different one... Anyone know where I can get the PRO X from for a reasonable price?
