What are the best madchester songs?

I like step on and sunshine and love by the mondays

You will find some better Mondays stuff by going a bit further back in their catalogue, stand out tracks were Wrote For Luck, Hallelujah, Lazyitis. Check out the Squirrel & G-Man........ and Bummed albums.

Aye. Should be the first one on the list.

To be fair, other than Step On the Mondays didn't do anything worth listening to.

Ignore Gilly he talks poop, see post #2 for a few examples ;)

I was listening to Loose Fit this very morning, you cant beat a bit of Muuundaaaays

Sally Cinnamon, She Bangs the Drums, Mersey Paradise, Made of Stone, Elephant Stone, I am the Resurrection, One Love, Standing Here, Ten Storey Love Song, Waterfall, Breaking into Heaven...

All better than anything the Mondays did, including Step On. The best thing about the Mondays is Bes, the second best thing is Step On, there is nothing else :D

*Shakes head @ Gilly

It must be the fact your slightly younger

Of course the Roses are better but to state the Mondays didnt do anything better than Step On requires you to take another listen my friend, seeing as you like your dancey pish anyway i would have thought you would appreciate the Mondays !

Yours

Disappointed :/

SBR was immense at V \o/ best band i saw all weekend !

Couldn't agree more.

How about "How soon is now" by The Smiths? I hated everything else they did, but that's a choune!

Saturn 5 and Joe by the Inspiral Carpets too.

I've always had a soft spot for Tightrope by the Stone Roses but I'd hardly call it Madchester. Their Madchester songs are definitely Fools Gold, Waterfall, I wanna Be Adored, She Bangs The Drums, I Am The Resurrection.

Soup Dragons - I'm Free
Mock Turtles - Can You Dig It
The Farm - Groovy Train and All Together Now
Candy Flip - Strawberry Fields

all worthy mentions

Here are some tunes of that era that I liked and remember dancing to.

Paris Angles: Perfume (All For You)
Northside: Shall We Take A Trip
The High: Box Set Go
James: How Was It For You?
Inspiral Carpets: Joe

For me it's between James - How Was It For You/Sometimes (even though not from the Factory), Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart and New Order - True Faith. Whilst the Stone Roses are amazing, years of living in manchester and having to listen to at least 2 of their tracks (especially I Am The ****** Revolution) every night has not done much for my love of them - having said that I still very much like Love Spreads and She Bangs The Drum, the latter with its unsurpassed bass riff

Another one for the list.... The La's - There She Goes
get out!

The la's are scousers

As are Candy Flip and the Farm :/
didn't actually read banja's post, red mist had descended and i clicked the quote button in disgust. But he can get his coat too, cause the Farm are interlopers (but can be excused to an extent), whereas Candy Flip are like cheapo market stall madchester knock-offs so don't even warrant consideration
