At least in the UK you can still buy high quality items. Not necessarily made here, but you can buy them. Down jackets, down sleeping bags (with the down traced and ethically sourced), long pile high thread count sheets, good quality tools, fasteners, tinned electrical cable, monel rivets, fibreglass supplies especially core material, but also resins.
Try 'easily' getting hold of any of that stuff in Spain, Greece, Italy (to a lesser extent), or anywhere in South America. Often the only thing you find is Chinese tat (i'm talking poundland stuff), or nothing at all.
