I'm going to Madrid for a few days at the end of March to see AC/DC (:D) and I'll have a few days to kill before it. Thanks to a special offer or an epic mistake on the part of the travel agent I'll be staying at The Ritz:D

Essentially I have two full days and nights before the concert. One of the main things I want to do is to go see a bull fight. Are there any on at this time of year and if so when are they shown? I'll be available on a Tuesday/Wednesday day/night. How much is entry and how long does the show last?

I wouldn't mind a few drinks but given the rubbish Euro exchange rate I don't fancy drinking in any posh/expensive locations. Can anyone recommend good bars which aren't too touristey?

Apart from drinking and bull fighting is there anything else worht a visit?

Ta.

Yeah, for about 5 minutes. Real bubble wrap is better :p

How is your breast radio?

Haha, it is awesome :p

Although my dad saw it xmas day and stole it for his work canteen for 3 weeks because theirs died,

Have you even done 100 "clicks" yet, there is a random noise every 100

Add me to trust and I can sort you out :)

Lived there for four and a bit months last year... an amazing place and I can't wait to get back there.

I'm not a leftie PC communist but anyone who wants to see a bullfight, needs to volunteer to get in there with the bull as a virgin bullfighter. I'd then pay too watch that fight. Free fight between man and beast, and the man must be naked without any tools.

With ridiculous views like that you quite obviously are.

However, that's another subject for another thread. I didn't ask for your views on my desire to see a bull fight so kindly keep them to yourself. :)

@Scuzi Before I go - am I deffo not allowed to sell books on the MM? I have a few Comp Sci text's to get rid of and I've not had any response to 3 emails from my Trust email?

Unless they're specifically computer related then no. I don't know what Computer Science text books involve but if they're specific to mathemtics or something like that then they'll not be allowed. If there's no arguing they're specific to personal computing then they'll be fine.

Do you like art?

If so, you will be spoilt in Madird. There is the Prado, featuring old stiff, like 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' by Bosch.

Or Renia Sofia, which features much of Picassos work, like Guernica and loads of Dali.

Whatever you do, make sure you hit the clubs at some point. So many fitties. And they are all mad. madrid is a cool city, very underated.

The Prado. Ignore all the religious stuff (and there's a lot of it) and go and see the Flemish Masters section. The Garden of Earthly Delights is worth the entry alone.

And remember that the city doesn't really come alive until about 9pm.

The Plaza de Toros in Madrid is called Las Ventas, and is at that metro station. There are no bullfights in winter but they start again in March. You can get tickets at the arena and they cost as much as you want iirc (i.e. €10 and up). Bring a cushion or some jumpers to roll up and sit on. Bullfighting is an awesome spectacle, especially when you get a really good matador. I saw Diego Ventura given 2 orejas (i.e.both ears) for a fight and the whole crowd put him on their shoulders and carried him out of the arena and through the town. Was awesome to watch!

Make sure you go to the Museo del Jamon at some point. There's a few of them around Madrid and it is a bar/cafe that has a huge different number of hams and it is outstanding. They do a good caña (=small beer) with a free plate of tapas as well - good for a mid morning snack :)

I love Madrid. Any more questions?

Bullfights take place on Sundays (unless there is a bull festival) so you can count that out.

As mentioned before the Prado is one of the greatest museums in the world so don’t miss going and be selective in what you see.

Be a tourist and see the Palacio Real, you have to walk around Plaza Mayor. Walk around the Los Austrias district and sample the tapas bars.

Have a walk in Retiro Park.

If you have the time then visit El Escorial, it is a little outside Madrid but you won’t be disappointed.

EDIT: Madrid Zoo has again got two giant pandas.
