Mafia 3

Well, first thoughts.

The install process is painful. You launch the game after a big patch and then get met with a percentage icon in the bottom right corner that's been slowly going up for a good half hour. The install size must be a good 50GB odd.

Yeah the game install is 46GB, day one patch on Xbox is 2.6GB.

I've left it to install, be ready for a bash later.

Just had a blast for an hour, first impressions:

- Glad they didn't shy away from the racial aspect, as nasty as it is, it obviously suits the time period. I swear someone spat at me!!!
- Shooting feels solid, the high aim assist is way too much though
- Driving at speed seems to be a bit jittery FPS wise (Xbox)

From what I've seen on Twitch it looks pretty good, I didn't watch too much as I didn't want spoilers. I have it waiting for me when I get home but as I'm away with work tomorrow I won't start playing until Saturday PM :(

Some of the Twitch streams do look good, but i'm not feeling a Mafia game, just GTA-esque, hopefully the story immerses you into the Mafia aspect

Playing on Xbox One and my game has crashed after part at Sammy bar I load it back up and it crashes again :(

I had the same thing, skipping the scene seemed to let me continue.

Played a bit more of this, some of the graphics are embarrassingly bad. The clouds in the sky for example, like something out of the N64 days. Other little things, like the glasses that people drink out of in cut scenes, low quality textures and the likes. The game feels like it's lacking a bit of polish. The driving is horrendous as well, it's better when you set it to simulation but it feels a bit spongey. Oh and i'm seeing quite a lot of texture pop in.

The story is starting to get juicy though, so that's a plus.

Yeah I'm staying out the pc thread for now, it's scary :'(

I can live with 30fps, I have plenty of consoles that do that and less so..

Mafia 1 graphics are not great (at the time they were), the driving was infuriating too, but that game is successful on the epic story, so lets hope Mafia 3 story is engrossing too!

I've re-played Mafia 1 purely for the amazing storyline

Story is pretty engrossing and its true its lacking polish hard crashes on Xbox One from start and few hours into the game.

Im enjoying it though it does nothing new or there nothing really ground breaking but it typical Mafia and that what I am loving. :)

Hmm, got to say after the videos I've watched earlier I don't think I'll be buying this. It looks terrible.

Apparently they've made the game really easy too...

The story is great in this.

Don't sweat the crashing. I had it on the PS4. Right after the cutscene talking about Haitians with Sammy.
