Anyone remember that strip of magnesium back in school that used to burn brightly when lit up? Well I was wondering what can I do with a strip of wire in terms of light photography or anything else. Any ideas?

The magnesium strip was used as the original flash. You could have fun using a 19th century home made flash with a modern DSLR. Depending how much you are an engineer you could rewire your on board flash to ignite the mag strip.

Thats probably a bit beyond my skills. Can't find any ideas beyond using it as a mere light source in the flash mold.
