Magnet Fishing

I did this with my dad thirty plus years ago on canal holidays the only things of value we ever found were windlasses near locks everything else was junk. Powerful Magnets weren’t as affordable back then so we had nothing like what they use today!

Years and years ago sailing down the canal under Dudley road at Ladywood in Brum there was all these prams and bits of metal on the tow path all the way to centre of Brum-
Found out later it was gypo's using grappling hooks on a rope.

Been going with my son for a couple of years now. Not bagged anything interesting, pulled out a rod rest last year along the local stretch and I have a funny feeling I lost it there back in 1989!

This happened earlier this year along the stretch we magnet fish - https://www.henleystandard.co.uk/news/goring/160626/old-grenade-found-in-river.html

First thing my son (8) said when I told him was 'Dad, can we go and get one' :D

Found one on a Newquay beach, will have to give it a bash (minging finger nail due to planting not soap dodging)
