If the piston skirt touches the bore you have problems. End of story. Sorry to all people who have posted disagreeing with this but its true. If your piston skirt touches the bore, it's going to cause very nasty score damage to the cylinder walls.

With iron cylinders and alu alloy pistons its mainly the piston that scuffs.

Pistons touch the cylinder wall of many cars day in and day out, its when there limited oil that the problems occur, you cant ignore thrust loading from the crank spinning around.
