Reading a comment on this track as follows :
roll deep have messed up this is too main stream they should stick to their underground style !!
And it accurd to me that I often hear quite a lot of people saying that. Why are people so bothered and its such a fuss when people go main stream? Isnt that a good thing for the band, to appeal to everyone and get more fans? Why do people hate things going main stream? Are they jealous?

Isnt this something that would make mainstream more intresting, people that have already made a sucess outside of a one hit lucky fame award.

What makes mainstream sometimes embarrassing to listen to, rather more be thought of that its cheesy and underground is better with more depth.. So isnt it better that more bands that are underground do go main straeam to promote the music better?

I can see why some people complain, but equally you get the mental musos who are obsessed with bands recording on a Fisher Price 80s tape recorder in their basement and who won't listen to anyone with more than five fans. They annoy me far more than any band "selling out".

Yes, as I've said.. But they do it to appeal to the mass and isnt that better for the band/group?

Better for the band or group perhaps, but if one of your favourite bands suddenly changes their sound to something you don't like for the sake of becoming more popular, it can be quite annoying and disappointing that you'll never hear new music from them that is the same quality as their old stuff.

Kings of Leon are the most recent and spectacular examples. Just look at what happened at Reading last year. The "real" fans don't like it as it attracts a whole new breed of fans that have no respect for the older, and often better material.

When someone goes mainstream their sound changes.

Agreed.

I amaze my friends with some of the music I listen too because they've never heard of these bands before. I don't hate mainstream stuff, but its definetley different.
