Did a quick search and couldnt find anything and I find it hard to believe this hasnt been covered so links welcome.

I'm getting a SSD this weekend and not had one before, Ive heard you shouldnt defrag an SSD, what other methods can be used to keep the performance up to speed?

So long as you run the windows performance checking thingummybob after installing it (presumably on a new install and as a boot drive - if not you really should) it'll enable TRIM and that will do all the tidying up in the background.

So short version: You don't really have to do anything.

Absolutely, all the so called tweaks floating around about disabling superfetch, indexing and the pagefile are twaddle and will hurt the performance of any mechanical drives you may have, running the WEI will set all the necessary flags to make sure windows doesn't do any prefetching or defragging on the SSD whilst allowing them to continue to run on the mechanicals, also Microsoft posted up a detailed blog a while back showing data that an SSD is the perfect place for the pagefile.
