Hello Peeps,

Could you guys help me out as I've been going round in circles and you guys have put me straight in the past. If you could have a scan over this and let me know your thoughts I'd really appreciate it.

I've already bought a Phanteks Enthoo Primo case and was going to swap some parts from my existing rig but now have decided to start a fresh.

I've not included tubing, fittings and ram etc. as I don't see these as major parts although it will add a lot more pennies.

Finally I'm undecided with the graphics card. It's a lot of cash and I may go with one watercooled GTX 780Ti and add another later on (not looking for the R9 290 v 780 debate here)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus ROG Ares III AMD Radeon Dual Core R9 290X 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - LIMITED EDITION £1399.99
1 x Intel 5930K 3.50GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor - Retail (BX80648I75930K) £439.99
1 x Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard £359.99
1 x Corsair RM Series RM 1000 '80+ Gold' 1000W Power Supply (CP-9020062-UK) £129.95
1 x XSPC D5 Photon 170 Reservoir/Pump Combo £129.95
1 x XSPC RayStorm CPU WaterBlock (Intel) Copper £104.99
1 x Hardware Labs Black ICE Radiator GT Xtreme 480 £84.98
Total : £2,662.44 (includes shipping : £10.50).

Thanks in advance for your help

You'll need an X99 board to go with that CPU.
Grab a Superflower/EVGA/Seasonic PSU instead as they're a lot better and also don't come with crappy flat cables (apart from molex/sata).

As for the card choice, what resolution are you using?

That Ares thing is stunning, but unless you want the bling of it, you could just get a 295x2 and a block for a lot less.

Doh! I was thinking of staying away from the new X99MB as I didn't think there was a huge gaming need for this board yet. Which was why I chose the X79 but screwed up choosing the right CPU. Can I assume you'd both recommend the X99 rather than the X79?

Fair comment on the PSU thanks for that, I'll change the list

Ares seemed to tick boxes of only using one slot and no need to have a small watercool bridge between the two cards (less chance of leaks) but for the price not sure it has the right justification.

Thanks to you both for your input it is very much appreciated.

Lets not forget that X79 motherboards take DDR3 RAM and X99 motherboards take DDR4 RAM.

Yes, X99 is X79's evolution

If you get a R9 295X2 it will also use one slot and one block as it is TWO R9 290X in one, like the Ares.

/\ this as well

Do you NEED the X99? It will add a lot to the price to go this route (DDR4, pricier motherboards etc), but it will be a lot better in multi-threaded applications and should last a lot longer, generally speaking. That's the decision you have to make on that front.

GPU you could get the 295x2 as suggested plus a block, for quite a bit less than the ARES.

I know you haven't included the fittings but make sure to get plenty of angled ones
