Just go for a new AGP card.Doesn't have to be Nvidia. If you're a gamer then simply get the best you can afford, probably best to go with ATI with AGP as they have the best range out atm.Something like This would be superb.
tried on different monitor?
Thought my graphics was broken in a similar way but it turned out something was loose inside the monitor, so now i just giv it slap when it goes funky and its back on fine
Do the speckles sprinkle themselves on the screen as time passes, occassionally arriving in hordes?
If so, then I must concur with the learned aboveposters, it's an ex-gfx card, it's gone to join the great giga-sli in the sky, it's dead.
Don't be tempted by NV 7nnn series agp efforts, half the earlier 7 series cards SHIPPED with that condition
Did I see an 8nnn card with AGP on a news site (even here?) ?
The thing is as well, that as far as I am aware, AGP8 was not actually presenting any kind of bottleneck at the time of the move to PCIe, so don't think you're missing out on all that much.
High end 6nnn's are nice cards, I just donated mine to a friend and it was tearful
Try stopping the machine in BIOS for a while, see if it occurs there. If it doesn't, it's no gurantee it's not the GFX, but if it does......bye bye card, 100% certain.
