Major EBay problem, help!

It appears he may have sent it to the Dundee address (which lists my name and location, doesn't say postal address) which was listed on the invoice he sent me. The transaction on paypal and ebay both list my home address.

Not quite sure what's going on!

Update :)

I asked him to check PayPal. It listed the 'Send To' address as my home one, not halls.

My halls address was checked as the 'primary address' which means it gets selected as default, so obviously changed the delivery address from this to home.

But it seems he's read the address of the invoice he can send to me for payment which stated my ebay user name and 'location' which was my Dundee address, probably because it was primary.

But location address is NOT the delivery address. So he's sent it to the wrong address.

Joy.

I still fail to see how this is his mistake though.

When you pay via PayPal, you get sent through an e-mail from the buyer, stating that it has been paid, complete with one shipping address. In your case, that had to be your Halls address. The buyer can of course attach a note when paying, which people usually use to state that they want it shipped elsewhere.

Its up to you to keep your details up to date, so I'm sorry, but its your mistake

No, he got back to me and the shipping address was my home address.

The only mention of my halls address was on the invoice he can send me to request payment, it listed my 'location' as halls. Must've defaulted as it was last used. Location != delivery address.

But the Paypal/Ebay emails he received stipulated the delivery address as my home address.

This is a scan of what he printed off and got the address from.

He didn't actually send the invoice as I didn't receive one. Just paid via paypal through ebay.

I don't see why it wouldn't be the seller's fault for sending it to the wrong address if on eBay the delivery address was the correct address and instead the seller used Paypal's info. Since the purchase was on eBay I think eBay info > Paypal info.

EBay and PayPal showed the same address. The only mention of Dundee is on the invoice, which states location. Nothing to do with delivery. Yeah, I should've removed it but didn't think it'd be a problem since I didn't select it anywhere in the process of buying.

He should've used the one on ebay and in the paypal mails.

That's what I'm saying. The seller should've used whatever address eBay listed as delivery address.

Yeah sorry, I was just confirming what you said :).

Oh well, phone time Monday, hopefully it'll be sorted out.

A mate of mine knows someone who's staying at the halls over summer and someone who is working at the uni, so they can also pop up to the flat and see if they've got it.

And i'm in the area (well, an hour away) next week so I can always nip over and knock on the door ;).

You sent him that?
Well if you sent me that and I was the seller, I'd take it to mean that was the address you also wanted it sent to.

Part of eBay's t&cs is that you keep your details up to date, so I think its still just as much your own fault. Luckily as it is a former address of yours, you may be able to hold of it still.

No, he printed that off ebay and used the location as the delivery address.

And it is partly my fault for having an old address, but if he actually sent to the address PayPal and EBay told him to then it wouldn't be an issue.

You choose what address is used when you go through checkout, I don't think Ebay can send anyone the wrong details.

Can easily happen, even on overclockers, despite clearly selecting which card I want to use it's tried to use the other, even after double checking my choice

I've had a similar problem, ebay changed their system sometime ago and instead of the item being sent to what i set on the ebay checkout in paypal the item was sent to my parents home address. Seems you have to check what your postal is in ebay and paypal are set to.

Both were my home address. Even his paypal email he received gave my home address. He's just read the 'location' part of the invoice he used which had my old address.

But location != delivery address paypal and ebay told him. :(

Went to check RM tracking to see if a signature had been uploaded, a lo-behold:

Your item with reference ZW548258693GB is being returned to sender.

This is either because the item wasn’t picked up by the recipient, or because we couldn't deliver it. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please allow for at least two days before tracking the return of your item.

Now, should I just suck it up and pay the seller for redelivery? :p
