Was it an expensive camera? (out of interest)
Canon 30D. Around £280-£300.
I still fail to see how this is his mistake though.
When you pay via PayPal, you get sent through an e-mail from the buyer, stating that it has been paid, complete with one shipping address. In your case, that had to be your Halls address. The buyer can of course attach a note when paying, which people usually use to state that they want it shipped elsewhere.
Its up to you to keep your details up to date, so I'm sorry, but its your mistake
I don't see why it wouldn't be the seller's fault for sending it to the wrong address if on eBay the delivery address was the correct address and instead the seller used Paypal's info. Since the purchase was on eBay I think eBay info > Paypal info.
That's what I'm saying. The seller should've used whatever address eBay listed as delivery address.
You sent him that?
Well if you sent me that and I was the seller, I'd take it to mean that was the address you also wanted it sent to.
Part of eBay's t&cs is that you keep your details up to date, so I think its still just as much your own fault. Luckily as it is a former address of yours, you may be able to hold of it still.
You choose what address is used when you go through checkout, I don't think Ebay can send anyone the wrong details.
I've had a similar problem, ebay changed their system sometime ago and instead of the item being sent to what i set on the ebay checkout in paypal the item was sent to my parents home address. Seems you have to check what your postal is in ebay and paypal are set to.
