major hard drive failure?

thanks for thew replies lad will probs try a reinstall then. malware bytes has finished and rebooted but im still getting this when at desktop. (black screen no programmes in start menu)

it says that i have data in the drives but when i open them there empty? it was also like this when i had all the pop ups aswell
 
Just as you are. If ComboFix can't fix it, then I'd image the drive or backup all user data, then reinstall.

Sometimes reinstalling some software is more painful than a reinstall - especially if you have quite a few program installed like me!
 
Looks like the effect of a similar virus I had a while back. Check the properites on your files, I suspect they have been changed to read only and hidden, hence losing your wallpaper and links etc. The files should still be there

when i download combo fix google closes all pages and i just get this screen witch which loads then dissapears is this right?
 
(it might be useful to crop the image in paint, so it just shows the window in question? They are big screenshots :P - unfortunately I've not used this program before!)
 
These types of virus normally require something a little severe to get rid of, if Malwarebytes doesn't solve it then try ComboFix, a good guide to using it is here.

Weird - it takes less than a minute for a blue text screen to appear.

I'd get backing up if I were you. The machine seems to be past any sensible worthy repairs.

i saw that screen! but then it dissapeared as well lol it said administrator on the box is this right mate? do i need to do anything with the blue text screen?
 
i havde the blue screen up now im on the msc on here now letting that do its thing on the pc on the blue screen it says

combofix is preparing to run

attempting to create a new system restore point

-

its been like this for a while now

edit scaning for infected files now
