Hi Everyone

My PC is around 1 1/2 years old and is experiencing some major problems. Firstly upon start up the bios seems to hang for ages on status codes such as B4 and 92. Recently the computer has been experiencing times where the mouse will disconnect, the computer will seem to freeze, the mouse cursor has graphical issues and the USB devices disconnect then reconnect. After less than a minute most issues are intermittent so I shut down the computer/OS It does the shutdown sequence The monitors turn off but the computer stays on.

Could any of you help with possible solutions to this problem. Is it a motherboard issue I need to resolve? Do I need to replace some hardware? Have you got any diagnostic methods that you would recommend?

My hardware is as follows:

msi p67 gd53 b3
Intel i5 2500k
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz ddr3
Asus gtx 560ti
Thermal take 630w PSU

Any help you can give will be extremely appreciated

Many thanks,
James

Try with only one memory module and try a CMOS reset.

Is it possible to check any parts in another pc or vice versa?

thanks for the replies. it seemed to be a motherboard issue however i am not so sure anymore. i went ahead and bought a new asus motherboard and have different issues! the new motherboard is here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-514-AS

now we i boot up after a night of the PC being switched off, the SATA bios setting reverts to the default and the computers clock resets to 2008!

any ideas?

Check the on-board battery is inserted / connected properly.

I updated the bios, no change. Changed the cmos battery, no change. Haven't tried different ram though. Phone overclockers today and they said send it in for RMA. It is boxed and ready to send now. Hopefully it was just a dud board.
